Nuestra Historia
The first time I saw Yad, I was running a little late to Bible study. As I walked in, I noticed him sitting on the couch, talking and, of course, making everyone around him laugh. Later that same day, we all went out to dinner together, where I got my first glimpse of his picky side, something that still makes me laugh.
At first, I honestly thought he would just become another good friend. We kept talking after Bible study, and before long, our conversations became coffee dates, beach walks, and long drives where we talked about everything from our faith to our dreams for the future.
Somewhere along the way, friendship quietly became something much more. Looking back now, it's funny to think that the man I met while running late to Bible study would become the person I love the most and I get to build my life with. What a blessing!
La primera vez que vi a Yad iba un poco tarde a un estudio bíblico. Cuando entré, vi que estaba sentado en el sofá, hablando y, por supuesto, haciendo reír a todos a su alrededor. Más tarde, ese mismo día, salimos todos a cenar juntos, y allí tuve mi primera ventana a su lado quisquilloso y "picky", algo que todavía me hace reír.
Al principio, sinceramente pensé que se convertiría solo en un buen amigo más. Seguimos hablando después del estudio bíblico, y muy pronto nuestras conversaciones se convirtieron en citas por café, caminatas en la playa y largos paseos en carro donde hablábamos de todo, desde nuestra fe hasta nuestros sueños para el futuro.
En algún punto del camino, la amistad se convirtió poco a poco en algo mucho más grande. Mirando atrás, me parece gracioso pensar que el hombre que conocí mientras iba tarde a un estudio bíblico se convertiría en la persona que más amo y con quien construiré mi vida. ¡Qué bendición!
We met at Bible study. The first thing I noticed was that she was stunning, but what really caught my attention was her personality. She was talking to everyone, making people laugh, and somehow stealing the spotlight from the guy who was usually the funny one. I'd make a joke, she'd respond with something even funnier, and everyone laughed harder at hers. Funny… and just a little annoying.
I loved banter and our conversations, but they were always in a group, so I came up with a plan. My best friend Ramon lived near Paula, so after Bible study I offered rides to anyone heading that way, knowing she'd be the only one. She took the bait and said yes.
One car ride led to countless WhatsApp chats, beach trips, and conversations about God, life, our biggest dreams, and even our hardest moments. Somewhere between all those talks, friendship became love. Eventually, I asked her to be my girlfriend while we were watching our favourite show, The Office.
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica. And her. Mostly her.
Nos conocimos en un estudio bíblico. ¡Lo primero que noté fue que ella era increíble! Pero lo que realmente me cautivó fue su personalidad. Hablaba con todos, hacía reír a la gente y de alguna forma le robaba el protagonismo al que solía ser el chistoso del grupo (yo). Yo hacía un chiste, ella respondía con algo aún más gracioso, y todos se reían más de su chiste. Gracioso, sí… y un poquito fastidioso, jaja.
Me encantaban las bromas y nuestras conversaciones, pero siempre eran en grupo, así que se me ocurrió un plan. Mi mejor amigo Ramón vivía cerca de Paula, así que después del estudio bíblico me ofrecía a llevar a quien fuera para ese lado, sabiendo que ella sería la única. Cayó en la trampa y dijo que sí.
Un viaje en carro se convirtió en incontables chats por WhatsApp, viajes a la playa y conversaciones sobre Dios, la vida, nuestros sueños más grandes e incluso nuestros momentos más difíciles. En algún punto entre todas esas charlas, la amistad se convirtió en amor. Eventualmente, le pedí que fuera mi novia mientras veíamos nuestra serie favorita, The Office.
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica. Y ella. Sobre todo ella.
